The whiteness and purity of barite products directly affect their industrial value. Natural barite ore often contains coloring impurities such as iron and titanium, affecting its whiteness and making it difficult to use directly. It requires purification and whitening through physical or chemical methods.
This process uses dilute hydrochloric acid to efficiently remove acid-soluble impurities from barite concentrate, achieving purification and whitening. The optimal process conditions are explored by systematically changing various reaction conditions and comparing the results. The acid leaching process purifies and whitens the barite concentrate. Subsequent ball milling and calcination further increase the whiteness of the barite.
This process uses sodium hydrosulfite as a reducing agent and oxalic acid as a complexing agent to specifically reduce and complex the main coloring impurities in the barite concentrate. Under optimal reduction and complexation conditions, the whiteness and purity of the barite are improved. Subsequent adjustments to the liquid-solid ratio and the introduction of ball milling further increase the whiteness of the barite to 90%. This method effectively prevents the yellowing of barite products during subsequent storage, exhibiting good stability.
The acid leaching reduction process combines the advantages of acid leaching and reduction complexation. Citric acid possesses both acid leaching and metal ion complexing properties. Through synergistic action with the reducing agent sodium hydrosulfite, it can efficiently and effectively target and remove coloring impurities from barite concentrate.
