Antimony is a silver-gray metal, mainly in the form of elemental antimony or stibnite, antimonite, antimony and antimony ochre in the earth's crust. Antimony has many applications, the main use is to make alloys with other metals. Antimony can improve the hardness of alloys well. In addition, antimony is also widely used in flame retardants, glass, ceramics, rubber, semiconductor components and other industries. The beneficiation methods of antimony ore include hand sorting, gravity separation, flotation and combined process, among which the hand sorting-gravity-flotation process is suitable for most antimony ores.
Antimony ore hand sorting - gravity separation - flotation process is roughly divided into several steps: hand sorting, crushing and screening, gravity separation, gravity separation tailings grinding and classification, gravity separation tailings flotation, and flotation tailings gravity separation.
1 Hand sorting: There are obvious differences in color, luster and shape between antimony-containing minerals and gangue minerals in antimony ore, so large blocks of antimony ore with higher grade can be sorted manually. Although the hand sorting method is labor-intensive, it can reduce the cost and energy consumption by selecting the rich ore before the gravity separation.
2 Crushing and screening: The antimony ore tailings after hand sorting enter the jaw crusher and cone crusher for crushing, and the crushing particle size is below 30mm. Then use the vibrating screen to divide the crushed ore into three grades of 0-22mm, 2-8mm and 8-30mm to prepare for the next process.
3 Gravity separation: The proportion of antimony-containing minerals in antimony ore is obviously larger than that of associated gangue minerals, so the use of gravity separation method to treat antimony ore can achieve a relatively ideal enrichment effect. The three grades of antimony ore after screening are respectively sent to different types of jigs for gravity separation, the concentrate obtained by gravity separation is sent to the gravity separation concentrate area, and the tailings enter the next process.
4 Grinding and classification of gravity separation tailings: The antimony tailings after gravity separation are sent to a ball mill for grinding, and a spiral classifier is used for classification. The antimony ore with qualified particle size enters the next process, and the unqualified antimony ore is returned to the ball mill for re-grinding.
5 Flotation of gravity separation tailings: The qualified antimony ore gravity tailings obtained by the spiral classifier enter the flotation process. The flotation adopts the process of one roughing, three cleanings, and two scavenging to obtain high-grade antimony fine powder.
6 Gravity separation of flotation tailings: After flotation, the antimony ore tailings are subjected to gravity separation through a jig, and fine-grained antimony oxide is recovered to obtain high-grade antimony concentrate.
The above is the general process of the antimony ore hand sorting - gravity separation - flotation process. This method can achieve better economic benefits in most antimony ore dressing plants.
