In barite beneficiation production lines, crushing and grinding are critical preliminary stages. Their core function is to process the raw ore into a particle size suitable for separation, achieve effective mineral liberation, and lay the foundation for subsequent processes such as gravity separation and flotation. Based on ore hardness, processing scale, and particle size requirements, the commonly used technologies and equipment are as follows:

Jaw Crushing

Primarily used in the coarse crushing stage of raw barite ore, this method is suitable for processing large ore blocks. The equipment features a simple structure, convenient operation and maintenance, and low initial investment costs; however, the output particle size is uneven, with a relatively wide particle size range.

Impact Crushing

Suitable for medium-hardness ores, this method relies on high-speed hammer heads to crush the material. It offers advantages such as a high crushing ratio, high throughput, and low energy consumption, resulting in a relatively uniform particle size distribution after crushing.

Cone Crushing

Primarily used in the medium and fine crushing stages, it is particularly suitable for high-hardness barite. The equipment operates stably, is wear-resistant and durable, and offers high crushing efficiency, capable of producing finer-grained products.

Conventional Grinding Process

Grinding is used to further refine particle size and achieve single-particle liberation of minerals. The mainstream equipment includes ball mills and rod mills. Ball mills have a wide range of applications and can process ores of varying hardness. Using steel balls or steel segments as media, they achieve fine grinding through impact and abrasion; rod mills are primarily used for coarse grinding, employing steel rods as media, and are suitable for producing coarser-grained grinding products.

High-Pressure Roller Mill

Combining crushing and grinding functions, it is suitable for fine and ultra-fine crushing operations. It offers outstanding energy savings, simple operation, and is easily automated.

Vertical Mill

Integrating drying, grinding, and classification into a single unit, it is frequently used for the fine processing of barite. It features a small footprint, high efficiency, and consistent product particle size.

In actual production, it is necessary to select an appropriate crushing and grinding combination based on factors such as the physical properties of the ore, target particle size, production capacity, and cost, to ensure the efficient and stable operation of the entire mineral processing line.
